Magic finds herself on the sunkissed shores of a sandy beach, the waves lapping gently at the sand as gulls circle overhead. Seagrass lines the dunes behind her, the only visible sustenance the eye can see. Scattered along the beach are mounds of old dried seaweed, castoffs from the sea's depths. Looming over the ocean like a vulture is a massive black stormcloud, bolts of lightning can be seen crashing to the ocean below it. But the cloud is still far out to sea, you'll have time to do a little looking around before you have to find shelter. You can go up the beach to a partially submerged rock formation, or over the dunes to see what's on the other side, what will it be?

Magic sniffed the air, she only smelled the salty sea air and the storm far off in the distance. She watches the lightning for a moment or two and walking in the water, goes over to the dunes to see what is on the other side.

Across the dunes is a boggy saltwater marsh, the stagnant water creating a thick, sticky muck that only the most obstinate of horses would dare try to cross. With the storm approaching, do you dare cross? Or do you turn back and see what else could be found?

Magic stared at the boggy saltwater marsh, took a step, and her hoof was stuck. For a moment she stared, and then she pulled hard. Her hoof didn't move an inch. She neighed for help, but heard no response. She pulled even harder then before and her hoof came out. As quickly as she could she galloped away from the boggy saltwater marsh.

Back at the beach the waves were beginning to crash with more force, bringing up more piles of seaweed and the treasures of the sea they brought with them. Magic could now go toward the rocks, or stay on the beach and watch the storm roll in.

Magic pranced happily on the beach, enjoying the waves and staring at the beautiful seashells that lay everwhere on beach. Ah. How she loved the beach. Her head quickly turned to the storm, which was closer then it was before. She wanted to stay on the beach and watch the lightning, but she knew if she stayed, it would be dangerous fun, she'd stay and wait for the storm, let the thunder rumble and the lightning daring her. But her curiousity always seemed to get her. She went towards the rocks.

As Magic walks down the beach, she'd see the piles of seaweed, littered with sea glass, small crabs, and bivalves. Farther down the beach the rock formation is getting larger, and a cave in the rock's side can faintly be seen. Will Magic head toward the cave now? Or stay on the beach for a little longer?

Magic was pleased to see the cave, as it would be a good shelter for the storm. But what if something was in there? And she had to leave and had no shelter for the storm? She kept walking towards the cave but when she got there, she hesitated before walking in.

The cave was fairly shallow, and just low enough on the beach so that the lapping waves would sometimes push small fish or shellfish into a shallow pool toward the back. So aside from water and yet more seaweed, there wasn't much that could hurt her. Infact the only animal in the cave was a small fiddler crab, taking things from the edge of the pool and pushing them into his little hole a few feet away. The cave would be a perfect place to weather out the storm though, unless Magic possibly wanted to become an unwitting "sea horse."

The waves were crashing harder and there were more of them now as the storm was getting ever closer, she might get her feet wet if she went into the cave, but that was a better alternative than being swept out to sea, or getting hit by lightning right? What will Magic do? Go into the cave, or stay out and brave the elements?

Magic stared at the storm, the waves seemed to be even stronger then before. I don't really want to be a sea horse, Magic thought. But it might be fun to see if I end up in a different place! Magic, exiting the cave, decides to stay out in the storm, unless a lightning bolt nearly hits her. Cause a different place sounded fun and so did braving the storm. Besides, she needed to have something a little dangerous. It would make everything a bit more exciting.

(There aren't sharks in the water, right?)

Soon the storm was upon her, the waves crashing against the shore in a frenzy. Rain fell in curtains on top of her, soaking her thoroughly before the winds howled cold and hail begin to fall, first in small pieces, then becoming larger, up to the size of golf balls as lightning crashed around her. Perhaps going into the cave now would be a good idea before she was turned into fried turkey?

(Might be sharks. I don't like that. Evil sharks. XD I'm terrified of lightning but also fascinated by it.)

Magic, who loved running in rain, could not stand hail. The minute it started falling she went into the cave. She shook herself after she was in the cave. That was fun until the hail started she thought. I wonder if that crab is still here. Even if it wasn't, she wanted to see what it had been putting into its hole and what was in the shallow pool. If there was anything. Finding the shallow pool - easy. Crab's hole wasn't. As it was dark outside, she had to look very closely. Eventually, she found it. Now, what was in there and the shallow pool? Just sand most likely she thought before she looked into either of them.

The crab peered out of it's hole and saw the huge white nose above him, then darted back in. Things falling out of the sky were one thing, but what was THAT!? A small claw shot out of the hole and snapped threateningly at Magic. Perhaps annoying the crab wasn't such a good idea after all?

Magic, a bit surprised to see something shoot out of the crab's hole, stepped back a couple of feet. "I'm sorry" she started then remembered that crabs couldn't understand horses. Well, she could try. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. I just wanted to know what you were putting in your hole. I meant no harm." she said in a soft voice. She sighed. Maybe the softness of her voice would tell the crab she meant no harm?
